MEN’S HEALTH MAGAZINE’S URBANATHLONTM & FESTIVAL
A NEW YORK RACE LIKE NO OTHER!
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2011
Race Includes Taxi Cab & Bus Hurdles, US Tennis Center Stair Climb
WHO: Men’s Health is gearing up to bring its signature URBANATHLONTM event back to New York! More than 5,000 racers will hit the one-of-a-kind course, which will be held at Flushing Meadows Park.
WHAT: The Men’s Health URBANATHLONTM & Festival is a unique, 9+ mile competition that combines traditional road race elements with rigorous obstacles and sets them against a backdrop of iconic city landmarks. Building on the success of the event’s five-year history, Men’s Health is expanding from Chicago to two new cities in 2011: San Francisco and New York, which first hosted the event in 2006. Course highlights in New York include: tire stutter-stepping, over-under traffic barricade obstacles, chain link crawls, climbing over marine hurdles, traversing monkey bars through, the US Tennis Center stair climb, and, of course, the taxi cab hurdles. Participants will also have to scale a bus before heading to the 8-foot wall at the finish line.
WHERE: Start Line/Finish Line: The race starts and ends in the shadow of the Unisphere and immediately next door to Theater in the Park at the Flushing Meadows Festival Site. For turn-by-turn directions check out the course page: http://www.menshealthurbanathlon.com/newyork-course.cfm
