Getting Volunteers Is The Hardest Part

Getting Volunteers are the hardest part of putting on a race. It is comparably easy to just do the work yourself, because of all of the work necessary to put on a race, this is not possible. The harder part of trying getting others to help is necessary. It is a proven fact that in any group two or three percent of the people do 100% of the work. As one who has been a race director, I know that before that I had no idea of the amount of work that goes into putting on a race. It is so much more fun to talk to friends before and after running, instead of helping.

If Not For The Volunteers And Race Directors

If not for the volunteers and race directors there would be no races. We should all make a promise to ourselves to help at least one race a year so that we will always be able to run in them the rest of the year. Race directors are the most valuable commodity the running community has. If they cannot find help their job is that much harder. We all love running races, so remember to help when that telephone call comes asking for your help.
