2013 TriCities > AIDS 5K in Johnson City, TN
The proceeds of this race go directly towards benefitting the clients of the HIV Network; a community organization that has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for those who've been affected by HIV/AIDS in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia since 1991. We are a nonprofit benefit corporation that has been granted tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). Our Federal EIN is 62-1486618.
The purpose of our organization is to respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic by being the leader in Northeast Tennessee and surrounding areas providing the following: Support for persons who have HIV/AIDS and for those who care for and about them; education and information about HIV/AIDS; information about available resources, including support groups, medical care and government services; networking with other HIV/AIDS support organizations to offer comprehensive and complete services; and a forum for those concerned about HIV/AIDS issues to contact and be involved with others who have similar concerns.
We provide clients with various financial and social support services to assist those affected by HIV/AIDS with out-of-pocket medical expenses, groceries, household supplies and goods, emergency rental assistance, emergency utility assistance and peer psychological support. All persons working for/with the HIV Network and/or TriCities > AIDS 5K are community volunteers that receive absolutely no monetary compensation for their efforts whatsoever. Please feel free to visit our organization's website (www.hivnetinc.org) for a more in-depth evaluation of who we are, what we do and why we do it.
